Budget Dominican Republic Rental Terms for travel between 26-Sep-2016 and 27-Sep-2019
The minimum age is 25. Minimum age is 21 with a Budget honored travel voucher. Maximum age is 70. An underage fee will apply for renters 21-24 of 5.00 USD per day. The minimum age for Luxury, Specialty, Full Size, Elite, Premium SUV, Vans and Pickups is 25 for all renters even with a travel voucher.
All drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver’s license requirements as the renter. The additional driver charge is 3.00 USD per day for each additional driver. The additional driver must be present at the time of rental.

Credit Card Hold: All rentals will require a deposit in the amount of the estimated total plus a minimum hold of 300.00 USD if LDW is accepted, or 500.00 USD if LDW is declined. The actual hold will depend on the type of vehicle and number of days rented. NOTE: Credit cards without raised numbers are not accepted in the Dominican Republic without purchasing LDW.
Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental to confirm the car will be covered in the Dominican Republic. Any waiver must be discussed with the location upon arrival.
Cash Rentals are not allowed.
Travel Vouchers are accepted. Renter must present a Budget honored charge card in addition to the voucher. All transactions must be paid with the same credit card on the prepaid voucher reservation and customers must show the receipt or any proof that purchase vouchers with the same credit card as proof. Prepaid rentals require purchase of LDW. If declined the customer must use a credit card such as Visa, MasterCard or American Express to cover vehicle damages.
Debit cards are accepted provide the customer purchases Loss Damage Waiver.
Taking your vehicle outside the Country
Not applicable. Cars are not allowed outside of the country INCLUDING ONG.
Waiver and Protection Options
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Purchase of LDW is optional on all car groups except Specialty, 4x4 vehicles, pickup and Van car groups. LDW reduces the customer’s financial responsibility for damage to the vehicle. An additional hold will apply.
If declined, the renter is responsible for up to the full value of the car. To decline the customer needs to present a Budget-honored credit card with written proof. The written proof must be on official letterhead noting that they will specifically extend LDW coverage in the Dominican Republic.
Third Party Coverage
Usually credit cards do not provide third party coverages as a benefit when using the card to rent vehicles. Budget cars provide the basic third party coverage with certain limitations. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental if needed as protection for third party coverage on the credit card. An additional liability protection may be offered at the counter. Any waiver must be discussed with the location upon arrival.
Public Liability/Supplemental Liability – protects renter and all authorized drivers from third party bodily injury and property damage claims

Driving License and ID Requirements
A valid driver’s license from country of is required. International driving license is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet. Passport and licensee must be from the same country customer live.
Fuel is not included in the charges. Customers may purchase a prepaid tank or return with a full tank (equal to the level at pickup) or a refueling charge will apply. If prepaid tank is purchased, there are no refunds.
Delivery and Collection
One Way Rentals
Cars can be returned to other locations in Dominican Republic based on car availability. A one-way fee may apply.
Child Safety Seats (CSS) – on request – 5.00 USD per day, 200.00 USD if lost or damaged.
Wifi – on request 9.95 USD per day. Tablet customers have GPS available.
A local driving permit is available for a cost of 1.25 USD per day for all locations.
Road Safety Net is available for a cost of 1.25 USD per day for all locations. Roadside Assistance is available, check at the counter for details.

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
