Avis Dominican Republic Rental Terms for travel between 25-Sep-2016 and 26-Sep-2019
All drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver’s license requirements as the renter. An additional driver fee of 3.00 USD per day per additional driver will apply.

NOTE: Carte Blanche, Diners Club and Discover cards are ONLY accepted for final payment. Credit cards without raised numbers are not accepted in the Dominican Republic without purchasing LDW.
Additional charge card hold: The location will take 300 USD minimum up to
500 USD as estimated rental charges as a guarantee or hold if LDW is accepted, depending on the type of vehicle and days rented.
If the customer declines LDW, we hold an additional 1,000 USD for economy through compact size SUV or an additional 1,500 USD for all other car groups. This is in addition to the charge card hold noted above, plus the estimated rental charges. See coverage information for more details.
Cash Rentals: are not available.
Travel Vouchers: Avis or Avis-honored charge cards are required with voucher rentals. All transactions must be paid with the same credit card. Prepaid rentals require purchase of LDW. To decline LDW, the voucher must have been paid with the same credit card being used for the rental and must show the receipt with the credit card details. Visa, MasterCard or American Express are the only credit cards allowed for voucher rentals. Customer is advised to contact the card issuer prior to the rental to verify coverage.
Waiver and Protection Options
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) – optional on all car groups *except car groups L, M, K and G.
Purchase of LDW reduces the liability to zero in the event of an accident, fire, or theft to the Avis vehicle provided the customer complies with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Theft Protection is included in the LDW. If LDW is declined, the rental incurs a loss due to damage or theft; the renter may be liable for up to the full replacement value of the vehicle.
*Exception: LDW is mandatory on 12 passenger vans, pickups and premium SUVs. Deductible on these car groups ranges between 800.00 USD to 1,000.00 USD.
Thefts that occur due to customer negligence (not locking vehicle or securing keys) is not covered. If additional protection coverage is required to reduce/remove the insurance excess, inquire at the Avis desk when you collect your car. In all cases, customer must present a police report for any incidents to receive the coverage.
Damage to people and their property
Third party liability limits are included in the rates:
• 200,000.00 DOP = 1 person
• 400,000.00 DOP = Two or more persons
• 200,000.00 DOP = Property Damage
Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) – Provides 250,000.00 USD additional protection in case of bodily injury or death and property damage.
Other coverage may be available at the counter, check upon arrival.
The vehicle is rented with a full tank of gas and must be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid additional fees. If you have refueled please keep your receipt for verification purposes.
Delivery and Collection
Delivery and pick-up service is available from/to hotels in these areas: Bayahibe Hotels (La Romana), La Marina-Seaport (any address inside Casa de Campo), Muelle la Marina (Romana), Punta Cana / Bavaro, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo and Santiago.
Reservations for all car groups will be honored up to 8 hours after the reserved time or until closing, whichever comes first. A No-Show Fee does not apply.
One Way Rentals
Within the country: Cars can be returned to any other location within the Dominican Republic based on car availability and car group rented. One-way fees may apply.
Outside the country: Not available. No one-way rentals are allowed outside of the country.
Child Safety Seats: Child safety seats are available on automatic confirmation at a cost of 5.00 USD per day.
WIFI: Wifi is available on automatic confirmation at a cost of 9.95 USD per day.
After hour returns: are available on request. Car must be returned before 11.00 pm at all airports, except SDQ, which is open 24 hours. Check hours for non-airport locations. After hour returns are not allowed at locations N6M, SD5, PU3, P9P, RD5 or X3D.
Roadside Safety Net (RSN) service is available at all Avis locations at 1.25 USD per day.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
